The “like meter” is broken on this vid. It did not record my vote. I also had a chance to chat with Ron as he served as MC for later acts. He verified his song is about the same incident as Doug Spear’s “Hemmingway’s Hurricane.” Both singer/song-writers have other excellent vids available on YouTube. The number of views is low since there are three different performances of Rescue Train on YouTube. This one has the best quality thanks to the Video Producer, Photographer Gail Carson.
I am surprised I have the first cmt and was first to like this vid. Ron and Mary won the 2011 Will McLean Florida Song Contest with this fast-moving historical story-song. You can look up the Hurricane of 1935 on Wikipedia to learn more about the hurricane and deaths of 259-459 or more WW1 Veteran workers. I had the pleasure of being in the front row at the 2012 Will McLean fest as Ron and Mary performed Rescue Train last weekend.
